Welcome to the USS Atlantis!

While the Alrakis Pact continues to return the Alpha Quadrant to a state of chaos, the USS Atlantis (NCC-81424) continues the original mission of the Federation: scientific discovery and cultural exchange. As more and more Starfleet resources in the Alpha Quadrant are shifted into military roles to counter the Pact, as well as the growing threat posted by the so-called Freedom’s Legion, the Atlantis helps fulfill the scientific goals of the Federation and Starfleet.

Numerous positions remain available, especially:

* Specialist positions in Sciences, such as historian, astrophysicist, biologist, linguist, etc.
* Specialist positions in Engineering, such as damage control, impulse engines, warp engines, matter/energy conversion, etc.
* Assistant Chief Engineering Officer
* Assistant Chief Medical Officer
* Assistant Chief Operations Officer

Most assistant chief roles are presently filled with NPCs, but please do not hesitate to apply regardless.

Website

We have been working with Ne’Tel to produce cool new images for the website! Stay tuned!

If there is something anyone sees on the website that appears out of place, please let your command team (Greystone and I) know. There are still some pages that likely have nothing on them. I want to build our website so there's a lot of information about the ship and our mission.

Sim

Last month, things really picked up, largely because of everyone's solo posts. In September, we were a bit slower, but that's largely because we were working mostly on large JPs, which always take a lot of time.

We put out 10 posts this month. That's one less than the previous month, but it took us over two weeks to complete the first post (Retaking Atlantis, Part 3). That took a lot of effort on everyone’s part so well done!

Mission Recap

In orbit of a Quantum Mechanical Black Hole near the Neethia system, the Atlantis sound a strange object that, upon further analysis, we realized was an artifact of the long-extinct Rall Empire, a culture that disappeared 35,000 years ago. However, the object itself, which we learn was fired from the planet Aione II 31,000 years ago. Something Rall survived the fall of their civilization.

First Contact with the Rall did not go as planned. The Atlantis has been taken over, with most of her crew transferred to Rall prison ships. Our chief engineer is being forced to fix the engines for them, while our XO undermines his efforts. The chief flight control officer has absconded with our shuttlepod, the Magnus, to find help with the USS Findlay.

Fascinated by the mixed-species nature of both our Counselor and her unborn child, the Rall saw in us a chance to solve their current crisis. They will use our ship to take them back to the stars, and want our crew to breed with the native Aioneans, their food stock, to improve their genetic diversity. Some of our crew complied with the Rall order. Others have resisted. Some have suffered.

In the Rall prison, the Atlantis crew was able to congregate in general population areas. Victims of the Rall gladiator arena called The Pit rioted and acquired weapons. The Atlantis crew managed to secure a portal station and get the crew back aboard Atlantis. Having learned how to block portals, the Atlantis crew prevented the Rall from reinforcing their boarding parties, permitting them to retake their home.

The USS Findlay arrived just in time to save Atlantis from total destruction. Having jumped free of Aione, the Atlantis and the Findlay are en route to Starbase 611, where we will take on new supplies and crew, finish repairs, and bury our dead.

Player of the Month

For those of you who are not COs on your own ships, we're requested to name a Player of the Month, who has the chance of winning that honour for the entire Task Force. In order to recognize brilliance in writing and work OOC, I want to tell everyone who I plan to name every month.

Generally, I don't like giving the Player of the Month to the same player two months in a row. However, Colette Blanchet did an amazing job this month, doing an absolutely delightful solo post, completing posts with Ne’Tel, Keri, and myself, and having a particular role to play in Retaking Atlantis Part 3. In all of these posts, her unique character comes through exceptionally clearly. Reading her sing The Logdriver’s Waltz to herself as she sits at the helm of the Findlay made me smile. Keep up the great work Col!

Post of the Month

This is actually a new thing! The Bravofleet Admiralty, in an effort to better recognize its players' writing, has created a new category of awards, the Post of the Month. In principle we are free to nominate a post from our ship or another (though it makes more sense to me that it be one of ours.)

This month, I'd like to recognize "Retaking Atlantis, Part 3" as Post of the Month. This post was the culmination of months of work as our characters finally retook Atlantis from the Rall. It involved all active characters and most of our NPCs. Everything came together beautifully as we took our ship back from those dragons and escaped their lost colony world.

Ideas

Please let us know if you have any ideas or things you'd like to see come of the sim. We are open to your ideas and suggestions.

But can they escape?

This month, player of the month goes to Ensign Colette Blanchet! Col was a close runner up last month, and produced some great content in recent weeks. Despite her character being physically removed from the rest of us, she has continued to be engaged in the story with some of our newer members. She has written a few posts set prior to the Rall story (or draft posts set just after). She is eager for the story to continue and has engaged with me on Discord with ideas on moving the game forward (with a role for Colette).

This month, I'd like to recognize "Playing Hooky" as Post of the Month. A great piece of collaborative storytelling between Colette and Alashanee (as Anjar), which also helps set up character interactions later.

» USS Atlantis: Bravofleet Simm of the Quarters Q2 2019 (and some other news)

Posted on 04 Aug 2019 @ 9:34am by Commander Yulin Rael in General News

Congratulations team! Bravofleet has decided that the Atlantis is the Simulation of the Quarter for Quarter 2 2019!

It wouldn’t have been possible without each and every one of you, producing very well written posts and compelling stories.

https://www.bravofleet.com/player-simulation-of-the-2nd-quarter-2019/

I also wanted to share that I have been named Task Force Executive Officer for TF93. That shouldn’t affect our gameplay in any way, but I’ll be able to help shape our task force and its policies going forward.

Finally, I thought you’d be interested in knowing that in July, Atlantis was the most active simm in the Task Force. We had 28 posts spread across 10 players, and when taking other factors into consideration, like NPCs and counting JPs as one post per person, that number climbs fast! We were almost twice as active as the next most active simm in the Task Force.

I think we’ll be able to end the Aione mission in August, get our new players properly on board, and then get to our next area (on the way, resuming an investigation that began into the activities of a certain Bajoran Assistant Chief Tactical Officer...)

Let’s keep up the great work everyone!

In July, things really picked up! There were six posts in June, but that number went up to 28 in July! Good work team!

This month, player of the month goes to Lt. jg Ne'Tel. Sam has developed something that is truly rare: an extremely compelling Vulcan character. The most interesting characters have flaws and weaknesses, and Ne'Tel's are both interesting to read and fit into our simm perfectly. I look forward to reading Ne'Tel posts, whether solo posts like his encounter with the Aioneans, or his private encounters with our XO, Counselor, or Chief Medical Officer (the latter of which sets up more to come).

Ideas

Please let us know if you have any ideas or things you'd like to see come of the sim. We are open to your ideas and suggestions.

» June 2019 Simm of the Month

Posted on 22 Jul 2019 @ 12:15pm by Commander Yulin Rael in General News

I want to take a moment to congratulate the entire crew of the USS Atlantis for winning Bravofleet Task Force 93 Simm of the Month for June 2019!

Here's what our nominee had to say about us:

I am going to nominate the USS Atlantis this month, I have found their storyline to be quite interesting and a thrill to read, they have offered a good and unique premise for people to join and they keep things moving. It might not be at a super-pace but they move the storyline forward with brilliant writing and with great teamwork and collaboration. The few posts that I did read were all done by multiple members of the simulation and led to some great interactions and story writing from the crew. Their posts are very detailed and provide the reader with a whole lot more than just from point A to point B in the post and the mission, so well done!

Keep up the amazing work everyone!
